This
system allows continuous blowing at velocities close to sonic, while
controlling noise levels to within 75db at 100 feet from the unit.
Steam
conditions are varied during the blowing to create thermal shocking
to the piping without shutting down to cool.
Calculations
are made to verify that the steam velocities are in excess of normal
operating conditions and are sufficient to fluidise the particulate
out of the piping.
Inserting
a target into the system flow for a specified time, removing it and
then checking to ensure that it conforms to the manufacturer's specifications
checks the calculations.
